Will the parents be at delivery and do they go to appointments?
Yes of course for delivery and they can be as involved as they want to be. As for appointments they go to the big important ones, and of course to any that I want them at or that they want to be at, but not to the 5 minute every 4 week heartbeat checks. Jeremy never went to those either, and by the time Cody’s pregnancy came around I don’t even think he went to some of the bigger ones haha! We all work so scheduling would be a conflict for every single quick appointment.
How long will I take off after delivery?
The doctor has filled out my FMLA forms, and due to me having to be able to lift 40lbs at work and perform CPR they will make me take 6 weeks off after delivery, atleast for a normal vaginal delivery. It's so important to take this time for my body to heal because honestly the more babies you have the harder it is for your uterus to get back to it's normal shape and usually the more bleeding you have after delivery. This will also be a great opportunity to pump for surrobabe and for me to deliver the milk to her parents!
Will the parents be at delivery?
Of course! I could not imagine not having the parents at the delivery of their baby though this is something we talked about prior to matching to make sure that we all agreed. Jeremy wants to be at the delivery as well but since we have three of our own kids I hired a doula (of course her name is Ellie <3) so that if he can't be there I will still have someone there to support me. Honestly Jeremy did the best that he could but during Cody's delivery decided it was a good time to put chapstick on me while I was pushing... yeah not a good idea. Ideally Jeremy and the doula, and the dad's will be there... Plus my super awesome friend Jessie is a labor and delivery nurse at the same hospital so she will hopefully be there as my nurse or just as my friend! I have a great support team which makes me super excited about delivery day! Best of all that day will end with this surrobaby in her dad's arms where she belongs!
